The main aim of State Ensemble of Folk Music of the Republic of Tatarstan is to present the best examples of the cultural heritage of the Tatar people of different ethnic groups, to familiarize the audience with ceremonial traditions, songs, dances, national instrumental art. The repertoire is replenished obscure and rarely performed folk material of Kazan, Siberian, Crimean, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Penza Tatars and baptized Tatars, as well as of Tatars living in Bashkortostan, Turkey, Romania.
Artists of Ensemble can play various musical instruments along with singing and dancing. They use a rich arsenal of carefully collected and restored by skilled craftsmen ancient musical instruments - squeeze, kubyz, sornay, domra, scimitar, Tatar psaltery, saz and others.

One of the best young and talented singers of folk songs Marina Devyatova presents a medley of popular Russian folk songs.

Igor Moiseyev (1906 – 2007) is one of the most talented and world known Soviet and Russian choreographer, ballet dancer, ballet teacher who has created first professional Folk Dance Ensemble of the USSR in 1937. In 1991 it was renamed "State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble under the direction of Igor Moiseyev". His legendary ensemble gave world tours a few decades in a row and still his choreography of world folk dances have great success and popularity with viewers worldwide. He has received numerous awards and honors from many countries for his contribution to the art world.
